Overview over Information Ressources and Tutorials
Best-Practice-Software-EngineeringOne of the main teaching and research issues I am working on is "Best-Practice-Software-Engineering" (BPSE). In this undertaking we try to research practices in real-life projects (Open Source as well as commercial ones) that work and such that do not work. This information is combined with metrics we deduct from projects and literature research. As a result we create material for students and other developers interested in best-practices. This material includes examples, web-sites, blogs, podcasts and other stuff coming up. Check out the resources below:
Podcast How ToI am doing a little bit of Podcasting, recording lectures and stuff. As I got some questions about my procedure I decided to put the lessons I have learned together; check it out if you are interested and give me comments if you don't like some suggestions. Software Engineering for Everyday BusinessFollowing an initiative from chamber of commerce Vienna (Wirschaftskammer Wien), I organised four events for small and medium sized enterprises to get updated on new approaches in Software Engineering, starting with Oct. 2006 and ending in Jan. 2007.
"Best Practices in Software Engineering" WeblogAs one of my research focuses is Software Engineering, and I realised, that it is difficult to stay in touch with recent developments in my field and also to communicate the relevant ones between colleagues, within the workgroup and to students, I initiated a Weblog dealing with "Best Practices in Software Engineering". I am very happy, that I am not doing this alone, but with the very competent support of Josef Schiefer, Heinz Roth, Stefan Biffl, Dietmar Winkler, Markus Demolsky, Rupert Meinl and Szabolcs Rozsnyai, who will write contributions from their point of view.
